German Red Cross Tunic & Breeches
Tunic is made of dark grey wool with four patch pleated pockets with five button front, can be button all the way up. Buttons are pebbled type with silver finish. Collar is a lighter grey, collar tabs are light grey wool with enamel red cross in center with silver aluminum twisted piping around edge, tabs are hand sewn to the collar. Shoulder board are made of the same light grey as the collar with light grey wool piping, each has silver aluminum wire braid across end for rank of “Vorhelfer”. Armband is the Neutrality type with red bevo weave cross in center with large eagle and swastika ink stamp “Kommissar-der Frewilligen Krankenpflege” Commissioner-the Volunteer Hospital Care, note armband were not worn when off duty, this armband is just penned on. Has location of assignment triangle on right sleeve, light grey on grey and is bevo weave pattern. Also on the lower cuff on the left sleeve has five year service bar, silver and red. Tunic has loops for small ribbon bar and one badge. The inside is lined with a smooth black cotton material with one inside pocket, also come with two metal belt hooks. Breeches are made of the dark grey wool with light grey piping down each leg, almost looks white, but grey. They have belt loops and button for the suspenders with small watch pocket with two slash hip popckets with buttons on front with two on rear with pocket flaps with button. Inside has partial lining of black cream colored cotton. Waist is about 36/37 inches and about 25 inches long, worn with high top leather boots. Overall both tunic & breeches are very nice with light wartime wear with some minor age, very nice. Note shirt, necktie and belt and buckle do not come with set.
