WW II U.S. Army 101st Inf. Regt. 26th Inf. Div. Helmet
M-1 Fixed Bale Steel Combat Helmet with 26th Inf. Div. marked helmet Liner. The helmet has OD brush painted finish over the factory finish, the finish shows wartime field wear with age but is 90%, the light OD web straps have brass fittings, the straps also show wartime wear and age but are in sound condition, the inside of the steel pot is marked with ink stamp “Co. L. 3rd Bn. 101st Inf.” The helmet liner has heavy brushed painted clear lacquered finish over the dark OD finish, the 26th Inf. Div. decals were white or silver or maybe even light OD, they now look gold and blue from the lacquer turning yellow, the finish shows age and wear. The inside has light OD webbing and the leather on the sweat band shows age and wear, also the brown leather helmet chinstrap shows age and has been broken at the metal clip near where it is attached to the helmet. The liner is marked with maker “Westinghouse”. Overall nice looking WW II helmet with field wear and age. Exc. + $395.00 RARE
