Volkssturm Tunic

Reissued M42 Army Tunic. Tunic I would guess was found unfit for field service and issued to the Volkssturm, the wool is standard grey green wool with the wool nap worn off from field wear, even the two breast pockets are missing, still has the two lower pockets with scalloped pocket flaps. The breast eagle is near mint and is the 1st pattern, white on light grey and is machine sewn to the tunic (Never Throw old Stock Away). Collar has two machine sewn black new looking wool collar tabs with one single silver aluminum pip on each, the pips do not match, you can see were the Army collar tabs were, sticking out from under the new tabs. Has Volkssturm armband and it is hand sewn to lower left sleeve.. The button holes have been moved a little and the inside has the grey silk rayon type material, you can no longer see any markings and the first aid pouch has been cut off, the inside material shows heavy field type wear. Tunic has six button front with standard type buttons with pebbled finish, the painted finish has worn off of the buttons. The German did not throw away much, items like this were used for a lot of different things, like backside of shoulder boards and for recycling. The insignia's on this tunic are like new as they would look. Would guess it never made it to the Volkssturm, is what it is. $1350.00 or Best Offer RARE
