Army 112th Gebirgsjager Artillery Regt. 3rd Gebirsjager Div. Leutnant Dress Waffenrock Tunic
Tunic is made of smooth grey green wipe cord wool with dark green collar and dark green cuffs, both piped in red and also piped down front of tunic in red. Tunic has eight button front with standard silver aluminum buttons with pebbled finish, Cuffs have two hand embroidered Litzens in silver wire on red wool base on each cuff, collar tabs are hand embroidered Litzens in silver aluminum wire with red wool base and are machine sewn to collar. Shoulder boards are the sewn in type with silver aluminum wire braid with gold metal regt. numbers on each "112". There is first pattern Gebirgsjager sleeve Edelweiss on right sleeve, machine woven pattern and hand sewn to sleeve, this is common. Breast Eagle is the Officers and NCO/EM flat wire pattern, silver aluminum wire on dark green and hand sewn to tunic, this has been replaced, all other insignia are original to tunic. Tunic was brought back at end of the war with eagle removed, some collector who did not know what he or she was doing had bullion eagle machine sewn to the tunic all the way through to inside lining, if this was not bad enough in was sewn on twice with two different colored threads and to top it all off the eagle was a poor quality reproduction so after it was removed this one was added. The inside is lined with a greyish light green silk rayon type material with one inside pocket with one pocket in one of the tail flaps, there no marking and believe tunic is private purchase quality. Tunic comes with Reichsheer Officers pattern dress aiguillette, has button under the shoulder board and between the tunic buttons on front for the aiguillette. Tunic also has loops for ribbon bar or medal bar and loops for one badge. Overall this is a very nice tunic, may have a few minor moth nips but very nice. This tunic could have NARVIK Shield, but was never added, would guess the tunic never made it to Norway in the war. The 112th Artillery Regt. & 139th Gebirgsjager Inf. Regt. were left in Norway when the Div. went to Russia in 1942. Overall shows some light wear and age. Exc. + $1275.00
