Army M36 Schutzen / Pz. Grenadier Unteroffizier Tunic
Grey green wool tunic with dark green collar with four patched pleated pockets with five button front. The dark green collar is nice with medium plus field wear and age, with 2nd pattern silver aluminum braid around collar edge, collar tabs are the second pattern, light grey with three dark green bars, tabs are machine sewn and hand sewn to collar without backing, the NCO braid is sewn across tips of tabs. The NCO braid is worn but sound and looks nice, tabs are worn but have no problems, there are a couple of moth nips on the collar, most are inside the neck, not distracting if on shirt form. The shoulder boards are standard issue quality and are the slip on pattern, they are made of dark green wool with silver aluminum 2nd pattern NCO braid with what I call grass green silk rayon type piping for Schutzen (RIFLE) Brigades and Regt. same color piping that was carried over to the Pz. Grenadier in 1942, this was changed just a little to a lime green color later in the war. The boards show field wear and some age and look to 100% original to the tunic. Breast eagle is a wartime replacement, eagle is the silver aluminum flat wire pattern with dark green backing, this is hand sewn, the eagle shows field wear and some age and looks 100% original to tunic, you can see some stitching right above the eagle were the original eagle was or still is, would not take the flat wire eagle off to see if the eagle is still there as it was larger than the original factory eagle, they liked the dark green backed eagles, have had several tunics in the past that the German sewed dark green dress and standard dark green 2nd & 3rd pattern eagle over the factory eagles. There are no loops on the pockets for badges but you can see where there was two that were pinned through the wool, this not uncommon, has Iron Cross 2nd class ribbon in second button hole. The tunic wool shows wartime wear and some age, there are worn spots from field gear, but not worn out spots, overall would say the tunic wool has lost about 50% of the wool nap, common on used wartime field tunics. There are some moth nips, breast pockets have some small nips at bottom, this is due to thing that were in the pockets from the war, the bottom pockets have the same problems. SEE "Multi-View" photos, will try and get some good photos of the nips. The pebbled buttons have lost most of the grey green finish due to wartime wear. The inside is lined with a grey cotton lined material, also still has the inter belt support suspenders, these are hard to find item. Inside material is in nice sound condition and marked with maker with size marking with M39 for date. This is a nice looking hard to find tunic these days, has some small problems, that were caused by war and not some collector. Exc. + $2800.00 or Best Offer.
