Named WW II 8th Army Air Force Service Coat, M41 Field Jacket & Type B-15A Flight Jacket
Service coat is made of light weight khaki wool. Lapels have clutch back “U.S.” & “Air Force Branch Insignia”. With hand embroidered “Bombardier” silver bullion wings on dark blue wool and hand sewn above pocket, silver has tarnished but still very nice, missing the ribbon bar, you can see light trace were it was. Shoulder patch is the wool felt pattern and may be English made, also has three gold bullion wire overseas bars on lower left cuff. Has gold bin back 2nd Lt. bars on each shoulder. Inside has light khaki silk rayon material with one inside pocket with Army Officer Regulation tag with quartermaster tag inside pocket, marked size 35 Regular and dated Dec. 30th 1942, has owner name stamped on the outside of the pocket. Overall coat looks very nice with some light stains with some salt & pepper small moth holes. Would display very nice. The M41 field jacket is made of OD light green cotton poplin material and has cloth gold 2nd Lt. Bars sewn to each shoulder strap with English made wool felt 8th AAF shoulder patch sewn to left shoulder. Has cloth machine woven “Bombardier” wing sewn to left breast, made of machine woven white thread on light OD green thin cotton material, below this is leather name tag with owners name “F.R. Montoro” this is a little worn. The inside is lined with the OD green wool material, has name also stamped inside “F.R.M. 0-662291” same as in the service coat. Jacket shows a lot of field wear, end of both cuff are worn and so is the back of collar, most all of these jackets will have this problem if worn very much. Zipper works fine but would be careful, it is 78 years old, missing two of the plastic buttons on the front, all others look to be there, has Quartermaster tag in front pocket marked size 34R and dated 3/17/1942, also marked with tag inside coat 34R. Overall shows field wear and age and also has some small stain, some of them look like they could be blood. The type B-15A Intermediate flight jacket is made of OD green material with fur collar with fur lining, the knit waist band shows light wear but the knit cuff show heavy wear and the zipper on the front does not work, the cloth body of the coat shows some wartime wear but looks OK. Missing the tag in the collar, would think it is about the same size as the other two items about size 34. Overall it would display very nice with the other two items, this one is not named but came from family with the other two. Inv. # 170/23/24/28. Exc. $ 850.00 for the three. RARE Group
